I’m Looking For A Good, Affordable Wedding Photographer In Kansas City?

I am trying to find a wedding photographer for my June wedding. We have lost THREE so far (two were friends who own photography businesses; one took the money and ran across the country, one flaked out on scheduling even one meeting–great friends, eh?–and the other had a scheduling conflict), and we’re getting desperate.
We don’t have a whole lot of money (about $1500 tops, and that’s a stretch), but we want someone who is good and loves what they do. We are hoping for a photo-journalistic style. Any recommendations?

Have you thought about contacting the Kansas City Art Institute and seeing if there are student artists available?

What’s the date of your wedding? I am a freelance photojournalist/teacher, and might be available to shoot the wedding since it would be summertime.

I’ve been looking.
Joyce Vance She is in the Northland. She did my Daughters Senior pictures and they were fantastic, I have seen her Wedding shoots and results, She isn’t a big name and when I find her contact # I’ll let you know.

extend your question to expire at a latter date. My sister knows a good photographer and since I reside in the same city I can probably get the info and forward it on to you. I am not sure if 1500 would cover it but it might come close. Congratulations. i am still checking my sister said shes is trying to see if the persoon that did hers has any openings. i should know tuesday the 6th sorry for delay.

Have you considered checking Wedding Websites and searching the area specified. I would bet that those who have already had their wedding day would make some suggestions of who might be a good choice and you might be able to get some ideas on their quality of photos.

There are a few photographers that I can think of–Black Dog, but that’s a little out of your budget, Oatman Photography, also a little high, and Chris Charles, who is considerably cheaper than the others. I’d suggest looking at the styles of the photographer, and see if that lines up with what you have in mind.
