Choose your wedding photographer based on your needs..
*How much are you will to spend on a photographer?
*What kind of photos are you looking for? Are you into the traditional or more photojournalistic or a combo? A traditional photographer will give you the posed shots that you usually see and lean more towards that type of photography…a photojournalistic photographer is more creative and will capture lots of candids, which are great because it gives you a better feel for the day. I chose one that does both because I wanted some formal shots, but ultimately wanted to be able to capture those little moments that give pictures more meaning and tell a story.
*Do you want one or more photographers? This also ties into budget. Some photographers bring along an assistant and are able to shoot not only you, but you groom at his house at the same time too.
*Most importantly, are you comfortable with the person you are hiring? Remember that the photographer will be with you all day, so if you don’t like them–their personality, their approach, etc…chances are you shouldn’t hire them. Choose a photographer that you are comfortable with and like.

To choose a wedding photographer. Decide what kind of budget you are working with. DO you want a wedding photographer who specializes in these events or someone on the more affordable side but has just as much experience. What kind of package are you looking for? Do you want a lot of pictures or is a smaller number of photos enough? Do you want digital photos or is film ok? Do you want just formal pictures or candid shots? Meet with the studio, find out their experience level. what their pricing is, how many photos you can get, their philosophy and how they approach weddings, what do they want to capture on your day? Do you get to keep the negatives? Will your pictures be online? Are they listening to you and what you want? Are they flexible with their pricing and packages? Do they offer any special services – help you put together your album, engagement picture included, etc? Finally, do you click and trust the photographer. If you choose a studio that uses multiple photographers find out who will be your photographer and meet with them too. Good luck

I looked at many factors.
Reputation
History
testimonials
the package that I get and flexibility
payment plans
and the big factor…….comfort level.
I picked a great photographer/videographer. I really did pay for it. He isn’t cheap, but I am very confident in the fact that he’s going to be fantastic.

We found ours through a bit of word of mouth, checking their work and meeting them. First impressions are big to us and we really liked her.

This won’t help much but its how i’m picking mine
I’m a freelance photographer and worked with many other photographers so i’m going with one that i’ve worked with.
I would really look at their work and personalities. You dont want a bossy photographer if its a laid back wedding, ya know?
also ask around! Ask them to see ALL pictures from a wedding because of cousr they are only going to show you the best

I hate to say this, but do a background check on the photographers….it will be worth it in the end, I ended up firing my wedding photograper (i have a new one now!) and she flipped out on me! She said she was going to F*** Me Up! And be on my doorstep…..
I cancelled the check for the deposit…..there was NO CONTRACT and i turned around and did the ethical thing by sending her 150.00 dollars for the engagement sitting fee that she quoted us after she told us it was free….
she still freaked out …. turns out she has a criminal record for beating up some woman….
AND, make sure you see ALOT of their work. Make sure you connect with your photographer, if you don’t it will be odd..
EDIT: I also wanted to add that the reason we cancelled the deposit check was because we didnt like the photos, we were rushed and put into poses we didn’t feel comfortable in..she took close to 300 photos in an HOUR and wouldn’t go over an hour. They were terribly bad, NONE Of them could be used for the paper. We asked her to redo them and she freaked on us.

My wedding photographer did my girlfriend’s wedding that is how I found him. I check threw his website for his actual photography photos he did on previous weddings and he does a lot. When we went to his studio we saw his photos in person as well as references. My girlfriend was pleased with her photos and his professionalism so we booked him and he gave us a $400 discount plus free engagement pics.
