Digital photography is a wonderful tool to capture those special moments and events. One of the many benefits of digital photography is that it is relatively inexpensive and requires little or no additional equipment to get started. All that is needed is a basic digital camera, a computer, and possible a printer or DVD drive to capture images. Even without a printer or DVD drive, images can be transferred from the camera to the computer and emailed to others.
When shopping for a digital camera a good idea is to keep in mind what the camera will be used for and what level of skill or experience the photographer has. There are very advanced digital cameras on the market that literally have hundreds of different adjustments and settings, accessories and add-on features. Most hobbyists do not need this level of technology and refinement to create beautiful images using digital photography. Generally a good basic digital camera will have:
* Adjustable resolution - this determines the overall quality of the picture when photographs are increased in size. The higher the resolution rating, the larger the photograph can be made without sacrificing picture quality.
* Glass lens ? a glass lens will give a clearer image than a plastic lens. It does require some additional care to avoid scratching but is worth the added cost over the long run unless you are planning to replace your camera frequently.
* Various modes ? most digital cameras will have a close up mode and a distant or landscape mode. This is a great feature and will automatically keep pictures clear when used in the correct setting.
* Manual exposure feature ? if you want to work on lighting and creating new and unique pictures, consider choosing a digital camera with a manual exposure feature.
In addition to the features offered by the digital camera, there is also the consideration with regards to cost. There are many very basic digital cameras available on the market that work very well, however there are just as many low-cost digital cameras that simply don?t. Be sure to complete some online research, read product reviews, as well as talk to friends and others interested in digital photography to get an idea of the brands and models that they prefer. On the other hand, some of the very expensive cameras are often complicated to use and can make learning digital photography more challenging than it needs to be.
Starting out with digital photography using a middle of the market camera and a good quality digital photo printer is a great way to get the results that you want without investing a huge amount of money. With experience and practice you may wish to upgrade your equipment or you may find you have just what you need to complete your digital photography projects.

Let?s start this digital photography lesson by looking at the digital camera. All digital cameras photograph images which have a normal pattern of pixels that make up this image. In some digital photography images a moir? effect is created. To avoid this, modern slr digital cameras come with an in built filter that givens a softer effect to the image.
When you are faced with having to sharpen a noisy digital photography image you?ll find that some photos are easier to sharpen than others. This might be caused from having a too higher ISO. The usual way of adding sharpness to a digital image has it problems too; it can actually increase the noise in your image quite a bit. To clarify this point, what is actually happening is the noise isn?t being increased as such, it?s being enhanced.
There is a way to sharpen noisy digital photo images without going into the noise itself. To begin with its important to understand colour modes in Photoshop. The easiest way we remember colour modes is when we think of RGB mode. This is a ?channel? of colours which are Red, Green and Blue. As I was taught by my good friend Lyndie Jeffry, there are more colour modes where your digital photo can be altered, adjusted and sharpened.
When I was first learning about digital photography Lyndie taught me that you can involve the CMYK mode which uses four colour channels. This stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. (Yes I know ?Black doesn?t start with a ?K?.)
Lyndie explained to me that the best one to use for this purpose is the L-A-B mode. LAB mode really just related to the 3 channels it uses. In a nutshell Lab stands for the individual channels. The ?L? really means ?luminance?, “A” the green-red aspect “B” the blue-yellow aspect. When working in LAB mode you can modify the brightness of your digital photo and keep the saturating and colours the same. The way this is possible is because practically no image information is depleted or lost when you convert to Lab mode. It also stays good when you convert back again, which is extremely handy. (Especially with highly valuable photos such as other peoples wedding photos.) Not everyone uses this, but it?s a neat trick with some digital images.
In some digital photography images you can simply choose to sharpen the L channel in LAB mode. By doing this much of the noise in the image is in the other channels that are usually not affected by this sharpening effect.
Now this may not work for every single noisy digital photography image you have. But in some situations it works very well. I suggest you try it to see the effect you give. I?ve used it a few times and it?s saved my ?you-know-what?. So if you?re in a tight spot with a noisy image, give this a go, you might be surprised with the results!

Unlike classes you took in school, digital photography classes are not only interesting but also a lot of fun. With the wonderful, affordable digital cameras available on the market today, digital photography schools are extremely popular. They teach you all aspects of taking digital photos including instructing you on the internal parts and mechanics of your digital camera. This helps a student to choose the right digital camera when the time comes to buy one. Digital photography classes start with an introductory lesson that gives you a general summary of digital photography and camera setup, so you understand what a digital camera and photography are capable of accomplishing. These classes usually concentrate on teaching the student the important manual mode of taking photos.
To become a great photographer, a student must understand and learn skills that give them control over how their pictures turn out. Depending completely on built-in automatic camera controls, such as auto flash, exposure or focus, does not always give you the best digital photographs. Taking consistently great digital photos requires both aesthetic and technical mastery, composition and shooting techniques. You learn about the fine points of taking a photo, such as in-depth composition training and details. Digital photography classes also teach you about editing your photos and processing digital photographs. They take you through the process of accessing stored images on the memory cards, along with great PC editing techniques and tweaks that transform even an average picture into a fabulous work of art. You also learn how to turn your digital images into a compact file so you are able to upload them onto the internet.
Digital photography classes teach students hands-on experience, by taking you on outdoor field trips. You learn theory in class but outdoor filming teaches a person about lighting issues. They teach you all about night photography and the problems you may encounter. They also teach you how filters tone down and correct photo tints, when you take pictures in full sunlight. Your teacher helps you deal with any photography issues you encounter while on an outing, that might not occur when you practice in a classroom setting. They work with you in different settings and locations to help you fine-tune your digital filming, resulting in great pictures every time. Because there are so many things a photographer is capable of doing with their digital images, such as printing, you learn the fundamental and basics of getting quality digital prints. Digital photography classes are a perfect way to learn about the art of digital photography, become knowledgeable and take great pictures. If you find you love taking classes and learning about digital photography, advanced classes are available for students thinking of entering into professional digital photography.

Macro photography is a fun way to get close up shots look stunning. If you want to get technical, the real definition of macro is the image on the film or sensor being as big as the actual subject. In this case, the camera lens must have the capability to focus on an area as small as approximately 24?36mm because this size is the size of the image on the sensor. This is frequently referred to magnification of 1:1.
What makes macro photography so enjoyable is that it?s intensely creative and powerfully flexible. You have a lot many opportunities around you right now then you think for macro photography. And you don?t need expensive digital photography equipment to do it, in fact the secret is in your lens.
Before we get into lenses in full detail, if you?re starting out in macro this type of photographic category can be a helpful starter to gaining new knowledge very quickly. You can learn new tricks and have fun experimenting in the comfort of your own home. Here are ten tips to getting sensationally clear, beautiful up close macro shots;
1. Always use a tripod. It?s important to get yourself a good quality tripod. A poor quality tripod will slip, and won?t hold the camera steady. You will get a lot of use from your tripod, so see it as an investment. You can use a good tripod for table work too, which is ideal for taking macro shots of flowers in a vase in your own home.
2. Look at your lens. It?s very important to get some good extension from your lens when taking macro shots. If you already own a macro lens have a look at the 2x tele-converter to double its effective focal length. A tele-converter lens will work to provide greater maximum magnification at the minimum focusing distance.
3. Use a shutter release cable. Using one of these very handy things will reduce any potential vibrations, movement or harmful blur. Add a self timer to your macro along with your shutter release cable to add razor sharpness to your images.
4. Don?t forget your mirror lock-up if you have this available to reduce camera vibration, movement or blur even more.
5. Remember that aperture affects depth of field. Using an aperture of between f16 and f32 is a good place to work with. You can also use a while aperture such as f2.8 which will give you a very shallow depth of field and then you can be very selective on what you want to focus on. 6. For beautiful flowers or parts of trees or bushes, remember a windy day will just frustrated you as it will most likely create blur and it will be very hard to capture your flower well. Try cutting it off the branch (if possible) and bring it inside. You can peg it up or put it in a vase to keep it still and out of the wind.
7. Keep a clean background in mind. A background with a lot of busyness is distracting. It will take the viewers eye off your main subject. Try a pure white background to emphasize cleanliness, or a pure black background to enhance bold colour. You can use neutral tones for macro such as pale blue or brown. All you have to do is use coloured paper.
8. Break the rules. I have never listened to anyone when taking macro pictures. I love to take weird, unusual, totally abstract subjects to include in my macro collection. You can also use metal as an interesting subject. (Jewellery, pins, forks, spoons, etc.)
9. If you don?t have adequate lighting then use your own. Don?t be afraid to use a lamp, or flash off-side, but not too close. You don?t want to overexpose your subject. You can try a torch if you like to create interesting shadows. And don?t forget black and white macro shots look fantastic too.
10. If you use a low ISO such as ISO 50 for example, just remember you?ll get better results for your macro shots. Since you should be using a tripod, a low ISO should not hinder you. Its fine to use anywhere from ISO 50 to ISO 200 for your macro shots. Any higher and you?d be getting nosier images. I?ve always set the ISO to the lowest setting when dong macro, such as ISO 50. I would recommend to use a noise reduction filter on your camera if possible or you can use some very nifty tricks for reducing noise after the shot has been taken. (See my blog with article about reducing noise at: www.DigitalPhotography.WordPress.com) If possible try shooting in RAW mode for the absolute best in image control at the post process level.
You will get a lot of inspiration by looking at images from professional photographers. Look and learn and then find your own style.

Silhouettes are some of the most beautifully gentle types of digital photography you can do. They can offer us a commanding presence combined with such gentleness. A digital photography silhouette can work so well to emphasise a certain subjects form very well. It can take your main focus from an uninteresting scene to one of pure interest and fascination. And this works extremely well in digital photography.
Digital photography Silhouettes work best when there is one main subject (can comprise of a few subjects) that has the whole emphasis on it. What works best is the light coming from behind to block out the whole subject, not just dim the subject.
But, there is more to it than just blacking out the subject from the light behind. You will find that when you go to take your digital photo silhouette shape and form become features points of your picture. Your lines and form become paramount to a successful silhouette image. The background colour can really work well to enhance your silhouette, especially bold colour that stands out nicely to enhance the blackness of your subject. Your lines will help enhance the viewer?s perception of the more concentrated feeling you are creating.
Bold background colour works well with a digital silhouette photo because it enhances the black and you?ll find it lifts your subject because of the stark contrast it creates. Black and bold, intense colour can enhance each other. A black figure against a hot pink background or bright blue can look powerful.
Your lines and shapes are enhanced because the detail of the frontal aspect of the main subject are gone. The eye is left with nothing but shapes and form to capture the essence of the image itself. We are unable to see frontal detail so naturally our eye looks at the composition and form of that subject to find information from it.
To create beautiful silhouette digital photography choose a simple theme. Silhouette is all about ?simple? and there are many things that work well. Silhouetted subjects against a sunset sky are a traditional method of creating beautiful silhouettes. Another thing you can do is black and white silhouette. Black and white silhouettes such as branches of a tree against a blue sky done in your black and white mode create a sense of drama and interest. The sprawled-out branches of the tree as a shape tend to capture our interest very quickly. Inanimate objects such as ladders, lamp posts, bridges and windmills can also make powerful silhouette digital photos.
Framing your silhouette is very important too. Framing creates an important aspect in the composition of your photo and helps to create the point of where the lines can begin and end.
Don?t forget about the weather. The weather changes your light instantly. Silhouettes rely on light and it?s important to make sure your weather isn?t changing too dramatically if you are taking outside silhouette digital photos. You can use good weather turned bad fairly well in silhouette digital photography. A mountain range with misty clouds can help increase the sense of the dramatic anyway, and when done in black and white, your silhouette becomes more powerful.
If you want to practice getting superb silhouette digital photos, just look at your shadows during the day. I urge you to really look at the lines, shapes and forms of the shadow because it?s very much like the kind of eye you would cast over a newly created silhouette photo. It?s a great way to practice your silhouette digital photography. See how the shadow creates the outside lines of your main subject. You can even take a photo of the shadow to get an idea of how silhouettes appear. So keep practising and improving your digital photography always!

Digital photo printing for USA Visa pictures is nothing to take lightly. It does not just involve snapping a picture or two with a digital camera. Rather, it includes the display of the image as well as photo printing that involves a combination of computer and printer skills.
Using Digital Cameras
The picture quality for a passport of visa photo does not have to be of superior quality, although it should be over high quality. A digital camera with 1-megapixel capability should more than suffice.
Using Computers
This is where you will store all of the photos you take with the digital camera so that you can complete photo printing for US passports. It is essential to note that the computer has a large memory and storage space. You will want to have at least 20 GB of hard drive space, 1.4 GHz processor and 128 MB RAM.
Using Monitors
If the CPU is important, so is the monitor. After all, the display is how you actually see the pictures and manipulate them. An image would look remarkably different on a small digital camera display as opposed to a full-sized monitor. Before attempting to view photos, make sure the monitor is calibrated to the manufacturer?s settings and is capable of millions of colors.
Using Printers
In order to complete photo printing for US passports, you will need to have a high-quality printer and high-quality paper. Inkjet printers are definitely a great option as they place ink that contains many colors onto the paper. Before printing, make sure the image is at a high resolution?around 300 DPI. This ensures maximum print quality.
And there you have it! Now you can use digital photo printing for USA visa pictures and photo printing for US passports with ease. Just remember to ensure you have great quality equipment, paper and practice, practice, practice! With a good digital camera, computer, monitor and printer, you can produce professional-quality images at the drop of a hat.

Digital photography makes it ultra-simple to take photos, however if you want to take superb images, you need to put thought into how you compose your photographs.
Let’s look at the so-called “rules” of composition. You don’t have to follow these rules, but it helps to know what they are. Even if you totally ignore them, you’ll be amazed at how often your best shots follow these rules.
Composition’s Rule Of Thirds - Divide Your Frame Into Three Areas
The best shot I’ve ever taken followed this rule exactly, and the shot happened completely by accident. I was holding my camera at dusk, when a boy and his dog ran towards me - they formed two thirds of the frame, and a car’s backlights in the left of the frame made the final third.
Try it. Compose your frames according to the rule of thirds, and you’ll be amazed at the interest your photos achieve with little effort.
Fill The Frame, So That The Eye Is Drawn Across The Image
Don’t be afraid to fill the frame of your shot completely. For portraits, this means getting close to your subjects, and if you’re shooting children, getting down on their level, or slightly below, so that you’re looking up at them.
Take Real-Life Images - Take Photos In The Middle Of Daily Life
Staged photos usually aren’t as good as candid images. When you’re photographing people, get them actively engrossed in something that they enjoy, so that they become unaware of you after a few minutes. Although this takes longer to get your photos, it also means that you can capture the personality of your subjects.
Digital photography is a lot of fun, and it’s inexpensive too. Don’t be afraid to take lots of images - you can always delete them - and before you know it, you’ll have some images which are frame-worthy and of which you’re proud.

The demand for digital cameras is very high. This is the reason many makers are launching new products annually or every two years. This has given the customer a large number of choices making it convenient for anyone?s budget.
If people do not know which to get, it is advisable to get a magazine or check the Internet. There are people who give reviews of the latest products making it easier for people to buy when going into a store.
When people decide to buy a digital camera, almost all the reviews will say a lot of good things about the product. There may be a few small problems but overall, it will be able to perform to the expectations of the customer.
In order to match this with the reviews given, the person must determine what are the requirements needed in the digital camera. Is this to catch certain moments in the life of the individual, family or friends? The model chosen will be different if this is used for work, which shows how one model may not do well for the other.
After this has been decided, it is time to decide the size that the customer will get. People who don?t want to carry a big bag around taking pictures can get the kind that will fit in the pocket. This is one of the benefits that will truly attract anyone when reading a digital camera review.
Another thing to look at in the review is to whom the digital camera works for. Most writers will say the device is user friendly but this will depend on the skill of the individual when using it.
This means people who are just starting should just get a basic one while veterans can go for those that have different settings and have changeable lenses to get a good shot.
The digital camera regardless of the kind bought will surely do a lot of things for the person.
? First, there won?t be a need to process the film in a dark room because this can be uploaded to the computer then printed.
? Next, these are small and light to carry.
? Third, this should be stored and cleaned to be able to get the same results each time this is brought out to take a picture.
? Lastly, an image can be deleted right there on the LCD screen if it does not satisfy the user so another shot can be taken.
People should read up then on the reviews of these products in order to get the right one for the job.

It’s unbelievable how many people are beginning to take part in amateur digital photography these days. Most amateurs are actually becoming quite good and infact turning professional quickly due to the fact that technology has improved a vast amount over the turn of the century. So what is involved in amateur digital photography? This is a question that everyone wants to know and it’s easy, very little! With this said however, there are still things that you must know so that you can constantly imrprove the quality of the photos you are taking.
So What Are The Advantages?
One advantage to amateur digital photography is knowing immediately which photos you may want or need to retake. On most digital cameras when the picture is taken it shows on the LCD screen and you know immediately if it?s in focus, heads are cut off and so on. You can retake the shot at the time and not whine about how bad it turned out later.
Amateur digital photography is a growing hobby as the price of quality cameras are coming down and the software to manipulate the images is becoming easier to use. More and more people are taking the time to learn the finer points of amateur digital photography and finding the results are better than expected.
Hobby Not Just For the Kids
It’s a funny paradox that most people nowadays who take up photography are more likely to be older retirees who have a limited knowledge-base of technology. Fortunately there are classes that teach people all there is to know about digital photography. When this form of technology first hit cameras, many people were skeptical of buying cameras that they may not know how to use or would have difficulties with, just as they had difficulties with their computers.
This of course is not true at all, as digital photography was actually invented as an easier way to take, store and print photos and it’s funny to see that many of these people who were skeptical at the time are now the ones praising such an amazing feat for technology.
One of the most popular recent editions to the digital photography world are the new printers that people can buy along with their cameras. These printers make it fast and easy for people who are wanting to print out the photos immediately as soon as they are taken. All that is required is to place the digital camera inside the corresponding printer, by that I mean the printer that supports the type of camera you have, and press print. Also it’s important to note that you will need to buy proper printing paper that is only used for photographs. Using normal paper will reduce the quality of the photos once they have been printed.
If you don’t wish to buy one of these printers, then there is another option. You can take your digital camera or just the memory stick into any digital printing shop and pay to have someone print them for you. This works out to be a little bit more expensive on the whole, however the quality of the photos you are having printed will be second to none.

Scrap booking is becoming increasingly popular in many areas of India. It’s a hobby, which combines, creativity, history,
family togetherness and art. Prior to the common use and acceptance of digital photography, scrap booking was a process of collecting pictures mementos and artwork into a creatively decorated book. The book often told a story of family history or events and was customized to fit the age, interests and understanding of the recipient. Many times, a parent and child would work on the project together. Most of the fun of scrap booking was in the creation, not the finished product.
Digital scrap booking uses all the same elements as traditional scrap booking and gives them extra emphasis. Digital scrapbooks are easier to store, edit, organize and share with others and the only limiting factor is your imagination.
Digital scrapbooks may a great way to share digital pictures, to prepare and decorate photo books and also make a great photo gift.
How to get started with digital scrap booking
1.Digital images - You can use images from your digital camera,
from scanners, or from online files, emails, photos and other information. JPEG images will work, but TIFF images provide
higher resolution 2.Computer - You will need a computer with a CD or DVD burner. You will use the computer to make and store images, as well as
to edit and reorganize existing pages in the scrapbook. 3.Editing software - Adobe Photoshop software is a popular choice for scrap booking fans. 4.Printer — You’ll want to have a good quality color printer, preferably inkjet, to print out your finished scrapbook pages.
Preparing Scrap book Images
It’s important to scan images at 8 x 10. Images scanned at this size will show more detail and be less grainy. It’s easier to
reduce the size of an image later than it is to increase the size of a too-small image.
Save master images as TIFF files (Tagged Image File Format). TIFF files are easiest to edit and manipulate.
Use a meaningful name for your TIFF files. Most scanners and digital cameras assign a number to your image files. Find a
name, which helps you to know what image is in the file.
Images and Art Digital scrapbooks use other digital elements besides your
pictures. You may use many things which will help to make your scrap book exciting and appealing.
Some of the other common digital elements used by scrap bookers include:
Backgrounds - Great backgrounds help to make your images stand out and add visual interest to the pages.
Photo mats - These are the small pieces, sometimes called borders, which surround and set off the photographic images.
Embellishments - Embellishments are the decorations, which add interest and excitement to your scrapbook pages.
Word Art and Fonts - Another thing, which makes your scrapbook pages really pop is the use of a variety of different style
and color, type fonts.
Your digital scrapbook is really just a collection of images displayed in a way, which is meaningful, decorative and
informative
